Visual Repertoire for Video Artists

Using the vast visual resources housed at The Stony Island Arts Bank, participants will learn how to build their internal library of image-based references using inspiration from the glass lantern slides collection, archival materials from the Johnson Publishing Library, and selected films from the Black Cinema House collection. Participants will also learn how to use previous works to plan the visual aspects of new projects, how to make a mood reel, mood board and/or look book, and how to create compelling cinematography for creative projects on the go and on a budget. This 6-week session will include an opportunity to produce, edit and publicly present new projects.
