The Artisan Entrepreneur


How does an artist build a profitable practice while maintaining creative capacity? The Artisan Entrepreneur is a free ten-week workshop for Chicago South Side and surrounding area entrepreneurs working in the in the arts, crafts, and creative fields.

In collaboration with the Urban Business School and JPMorgan Chase in support of Reimagining the Civic Commons, this program will train a select group of artists, creatives and makers in financial planning and entrepreneurial decision making. Over the course of ten weeks, the cohort will craft a business plan which will be presented in the final session.

This program is free to attend, and open to all adults wishing to grow their creative practice and achieve financial independence.

The time commitment for the ten week span is as follows:

+ Ten 2 hour classes, to begin on June 18th and be held each Monday from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
+ One 4 hour business plan session (date and time TBD)
+ One 2-hour presentation class (date and time TBD, open to the friends, family, and the public).

The application deadline is Sunday, June 3 at 6 p.m. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the program by Friday, June 8.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduates will have additional opportunities to grow their work through the Arts Bank ecosystem.
