South Side Connections is an afternoon of historical investigation co-presented by four long-standing South Side arts organizations: the Renaissance Society, the Hyde Park Art Center, the South Side Community Art Center, and the Smart Museum.
It aims to combine audiences, share unique and overlapping histories, and establish a foundation for future collaborations that can continue to nourish these communities.
Rebecca Zorach, Crowe Professor of Art History at Northwestern University, will present a lecture on historical points of intersection among the collaborating organizations. Representatives from each organization will then share various archival materials and ephemera in an “unfurling,” a form of experimental show-and-tell originated by Never The Same, which sees the archive as a beginning rather than an end. This activity will be led by artist Faheem Majeed.
The event is free, but registration is required. Please register here.
