On January 20, 2009, artist Rob Pruitt painted a portrait of President Obama at his inauguration. A quick portrait emerged, a red and blue airbrushed base with white overlay, documenting a single moment of a historic presidency. Over the next eight years, Pruitt would repeat this act daily, pulling from imagery of the previous day’s events. The result – a monumental work of 2,922 individual paintings – chronicles an exceptional Presidency in real time, a visual archive shown for the first time in Chicago at the Stony Island Arts Bank.
Join the artist, Rob Pruitt, for an all-ages family drawing workshop against the backdrop of this inspiring exhibition. Drawing pads and materials will be available onsite, but families are welcome to bring your own.
This event is free to attend and open to the public, please RSVP so we can have a proper headcount for supplies.
