While the imagery of uniformed militant Black men armed with panther power against the oppressor has always been synonymous with the name and legacy, it was the Black Panther Party’s women members who upheld and (in the 70s) made up the majority of the movement.
Following a special screening of ‘Free Angela and All Political Prisoners’, legendary Black Panther Party members and civil rights activists: Barbara Easley-Cox and Ericka Huggins will be in conversation about their past experiences and contributions as Panthers, their contemporary lives, Black womanhood and other topics.
This event is in cohesion with the ICONIC: Black Panther exhibition held at the Stony Island Arts Bank. This is a free event. RSVP recommended!
