Arts Bank Cinema Presents Work in Progress: Punch 9 for Harold Washington

Arts Bank Cinema is proud to present a short preview of the documentary, still being edited, “Punch 9 for Harold Washington.” “Punch 9” tells the story of Chicago’s first African-American mayor, who paved the way for a new generation of leaders, including current mayor Lori Lightfoot and President Barack Obama.

This program includes a cinematic exploration of Rainbow Coalition politics in Chicago, from the Black Panther Party to Obama’s 2008 campaign. Special guests from all of these eras will contribute to a discussion of the evolution of rainbow coalition politics, past to present, and what this Chicago-born organizing movement might influence in 2020.
