On December 19, Carver Bank Artists-In-Residence applicants and guests from North Omaha were invited to a gathering hosted by Theaster Gates, Rebuild Foundation, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, and Big Mama’s Kitchen. During the intimate, end-of-the-year celebration, nearly 70 attendees enjoyed Big Mama’s soul food, remarks by Theaster and Hesse McGraw, Bemis Center’s Chief Curator, and special performances by Omaha artists Cristina Bertuldo, Carol Rogers, Portia Love, Rubix Crew, and Dominique Morgan.
